Samford Ambassadors Mission

By leading balanced lives and reflecting the ideal Samford student, the Samford Ambassadors will serve the university community through leadership by building internal and external relationships for its advancement.


  • Assist Samford administration with donor, constituent and community relations
  • Be positive representatives of Samford and its student body at all times
  • Lead balanced lives that reflect the ideal Samford student
  • Serve the university community through leadership, and building internal and external relationships for its advancement
  • Act as liaisons between Samford and its many constituents
  • Serve as hosts and hostesses at Samford events on and off campus
  • Verbally communicate the Samford story among students and constituents

Requirements for Consideration

  • Candidate must be a full-time undergraduate student who has completed a minimum 14 hours of academic course work
  • Candidate must have attained a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Candidate must be recommended by a Samford employee or current ambassador
  • Candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, enthusiasm for Samford, proven leadership ability, a positive personality, sound judgment, reliability and maturity


  • Attend organizational meetings twice a month
  • Host official university functions as needed
  • Participate fully and equally in all activities of the organization
  • Assist the president and the Office of University Advancement whenever a need arises

Membership and Length of Term

  • New ambassadors are chosen each spring for the following academic year
  • Ambassadors commit to serving for at least one academic year
  • Sophomores and juniors are encouraged to return each year through their senior year
  • Ambassadors do not convene during the summer or Jan Term, although they occasionally may be called upon for special events or functions pending availability

Faculty, staff and current ambassadors nominate candidates late in the fall semester and early in the spring.  Ambassadors are selected in April following an application and interview process.
